Cartabino went to Japan for 18 months to work on the
car. He says he now intimately understands the company and believes that
the Camry wouldn’t look as good as it does had he not gone across the Pacific.
Toyota designed the XLE model first, and it ended up being
more aggressive than the outgoing XSE model. So Toyota decided to dream up
completely new front- and rear-end designs for the new XSE model, which is even
more aggro.
he XSE’s rear wing is one-third the height of the outgoing
XSE’s spoiler. Toyota wanted this new Camry to have a more “premium … European”
feel.
No one thought the Camry’s blacked-out roof would
happen. But somehow, it slipped through the concept phase to production.
(And we’re happy it did.)
Oh, and that black roof is a serious pain to do. While
Toyota first tried to do the roof in vinyl wraps, they ended up needing to use
black paint with a blue-metallic base to get the finish right. The Camry has
come off the production line, and the roof has to be taped off and sprayed
separately.
Design and engineering teams worked together all day, every day. CEO Akio
Toyoda wouldn’t have it any other way as Toyota works to break down
disconnected “chimney” development in order to get everyone on the same page.

Mechanically, the 2018 Camry offers the same familiar powertrains:
a 3.5-liter V6, and 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Both will be paired to a
new eight-speed automatic transmission, as experienced recently in our
Highlander and Sienna test vehicles.

four-cylinder hybrid will also be available, mated to a continuously variable The
Camry will be offered in four well-known trimlines—LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. The
sportier models feature a few unique body modifications and distinctive 19-inch
wheels, differentiating them from the entry-level LE and upscale XLE trims.
The interior
gets soft-touch materials and other premium-looking upgrades compared to the
last model. The company also says the front seats have been “completely
reengineered” to be easier to access and more comfortable. The rear seat is
also said to be roomier. Other interior highlights include an available 10-inch
color head-up display,
a seven-inch screen within the instrument cluster, and
another eight-inch screen showing audio, navigation, and climate control
displays in the center console.
The 2018 Camry is also the first model to
showcase Toyota’s next-generation Entune infotainment system. Entune 3.0 gets
several new features, including available remote startand door unlock
capability, vehicle status notifications, a guest driver monitor, and vehicle
finder.
The Toyota Camry has long held the distinction as a thoroughly competent family car but a real snooze-fest on the road. To be fair, we said the last one was pleasant and capable, with sound handling.
No matter how it's phrased, the Camry's bad rap among critics as unexciting is not entirely justified. That's particularly true this year: Toyota's eighth-generation Camry has more spirit, in the way it drives and looks.
A smooth and comfortable ride has always been a Camry strength, and this remains true even with the car’s improved agility. The suspension of the LE model we rented from Toyotasoaked up bumps easily, even when the going got rough, delivering a smooth and refined ride.

The 2018 version of has been first revealed at the start of April, s, likely in the fall. The price hasn’t been revealed just yet. Despite that, it is safe to assume it won’t differ much from the ongoing model.The top end models of the Explorer, will cost well past $55,000 which is already quite a bit more than any other car in its class. Even with this high price tag, the car will still be competitive but more on that a bit later.
Inside the Cabin
As we said, the 2018 Ford Explorer is not perfect as it doesn’t offer the same level of quality as some of its European or Japanese rivals.
However, the car is definitely not as bad as some would say. For starters, there is plenty of room inside the cabin. In the base trim levels,
the Explorer will accommodate up to 7 people in perfect comfort. As a bonus, the 2018 model will bring a few new features into the mix. It will now come with an optional 4G-LTE modem with a WiFi hot-spot, and Ford will also offer a subscription service for it. Ford will also add a new “Safe and Smart” package which includes a few different things.
On top of that, it will also include automatic high-beams and rain-sensing wipers. While all of these were previously available, this is the first time when the Explorer will receive them as a complete package.

Exterior
The design of the 2018 Ford Explorer hasn’t been left unchanged either. In the front, with a honeycomb mesh as well as a different surrounding insert.
The headlights include different DRLs while the bumper is slightly more aggressive than before. The “Sport” trim level gets a new rear bumper as well as a quad-exhaust system which was previously unavailable.
All versions of the car get new rims which make it seem a bit sportier than before. On top of that, the rims are now wrapped in better quality rubber so the upgrade should be well worth the money.
